Weather Related Concerns

Every year, in some regions of our huge country, weird weather occurs. Any farmer will attest to this. Sometimes this means huge amounts of rain and in other years, next to none. Windstorms and hail can also make gardening extra interesting. Atypically bitter cold or scalding heat happens periodically, too. Wild weather can damage your plants, cause bulbs to rot in soggy soil and freeze (or fry) varieties that customarily thrive in your area.

Most of the time it's hard to plan for this sort of thing. And it's part of dealing with Nature.

However, if torrential rain occurs in your part of the country every few years, there are may be a few helpful options that have been discovered or developed. A call to your local Cooperative Extension may provide tips that will mitigate the damage crazy weather can cause. Here's a link to a page that provides Cooperative Extension websites where you'll find lots of great info and local contact options.
