Calochortus Superbus

Calochortus Superbus
Flowering late spring through early summer and decorating the dry meadows and grasslands of its native California, calochortus superbus is a perennial favorite of hikers and wildflower scouts. Yellow mariposa lilies, as these plants are also called, are excellent addition to gardens in warm areas where their delicate-looking blooms nod on the slenderest of stems. Blossoms range from white to light yellow, with wine blotches and markings in the center, framed by bright yellow rings. Look closely; the details on these are wonderful. Note: these bulbs are cultivated, not collected from the wild.
