We're always on the look out for new plants and were delighted to find these crytanthus or Ifafa lilies. The red flowering variety, uncommon in this country, dots the landscape in a few parts of its native South Africa, where it forms large clumps when established. Propagation is by offsets (daughter bulbs), which develop readily along the side of the mother bulb, and can be removed in the late winter to expand your stock. Excellent choices for containers and greenhouse culture, Ifafa lilies also make good cut flowers and last 8-10 days in a vase. Note: our supply this spring is very limited; we hope to be able to get larger quantities for next spring. Please plant promptly, as these bulbs prefer not to be out of the soil for long periods.
