| The embodiment of spring for many gardeners, crocuses are bright, undemanding little flowers that pop out of the ground in colorful patches with the first warm days of late winter. Able to weather freezing temperatures and even an inch or so of late season snow, these little darlings are cheerful enough to elicit smiles from kids and adults alike.
Crocus flowers are gently rounded, cup-shaped blooms with six petals and are framed by deep green, grassy foliage. Their low profile makes them perfect for edgings, rock gardens and bright beginnings in perennial beds. They'll even spread slowly through little offset bulbs, making the show better with each passing spring.
