If the summer just wouldn't be complete without fresh blackberries, take the bull by the horns and grow your own! Nothing compares with berries right off the canes, right? Navaho blackberries are a very popular thornless variety developed by the University of Arkansas, a cultivar used as a benchmark for all other varieties. The canes are erect, requiring no trellises and allowing for easy harvesting. The fruit has excellent flavor with a high sugar content; if your preference is for sweet, not tart berries, these fit the bill. Thornless Navaho produces generous crops beginning in June and continuing for five to six weeks. For enjoying out of hand and in jams, jellies, pies, muffins, sauces and more. 3 plants, each in a 4" pot. |
